Iguazu Falls Tour from Asunción

Yes. The Iguazu Falls are about 330 km from Asunción, roughly five to six hours of driving each way including the border crossing. Leaving at 3 AM puts you at the Brazilian side of the park by 9 AM opening time, with the whole morning to visit and a return to Asunción the same night, around 8 to 9 PM.

Seventeen to eighteen hours door to door. Pickup is at 3:00 AM at your hotel in Asunción and drop-off is between 8:00 and 9:00 PM the same day. That includes about eleven hours of driving and four to five hours at the falls.

About 330 km. The route follows Route 7 across Paraguay to Ciudad del Este, crosses the Friendship Bridge into Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil, and continues a short distance to the park entrance.

The Brazilian side. It gives the panoramic view of the whole set of waterfalls and takes three to four hours to walk properly, which is what makes a same-day return to Asunción realistic. The Argentinian side holds about 80% of the falls and needs a full day of its own, so it requires an overnight stay in the area.

Paraguay is a Mercosur member, so Paraguayan passport holders pay the lower rate. The fee is paid at the gate in reais or by card.

Iguaçu National Park opens at 9:00 AM Monday to Friday and 8:30 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. Last entry is 4:00 PM and visitors can stay in the park until 5:30 PM. It is open 365 days a year.

The falls are impressive year-round and the park never closes. December to March brings the highest water volume along with heat and humidity. April to June and August to October offer the best balance of comfortable weather, strong flow and thinner crowds. January and July are busiest because of school holidays in Brazil and Argentina.

Not in one day from Asunción — it means a second border crossing and rushing both parks. If you want both sides, the practical option is a one-way transfer to Foz do Iguaçu, a night there, and a pickup when you are ready to return.

The tour runs anyway, and rain is less of a problem than people expect: the falls look spectacular with high water and the park stays open. Bring a light rain jacket rather than an umbrella, since the walkways get spray in any weather.

A scheduled bus is cheaper but drops you at the Foz do Iguaçu terminal rather than the park, and its timetable rarely lines up with park opening hours, which usually forces an overnight stay. A private tour is door to door and built around the 9 AM opening, so the trip fits in one day. Split between three or four passengers the difference per person is smaller than most travellers expect.
