Five stops in about five hours. There is no fixed departure time — you pick it, and the order can be adjusted. It is a private tour, so you decide where to linger.

Why it is worth it
A Capital Older Than Almost Any Other
Founded in 1537, Asunción is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in South America.
Asunción was founded on 15 August 1537 and became the base from which the Spanish founded much of the region — which is why Paraguayans call it la Madre de Ciudades, the Mother of Cities. Buenos Aires was refounded from here. That history is still legible in a few blocks near the river.
The Casa de la Independencia, built in 1772, is where the group of patriots met to plan the break from the Spanish empire on the night of 14 May 1811. It is a museum today, and admission is free.
A block away, the Panteón Nacional de los Héroes holds the country’s war dead. Francisco Solano López ordered it in October 1863 as an oratory to Our Lady of the Assumption; the War of the Triple Alliance interrupted the work and it stood unfinished for some seventy years, until it was inaugurated on 12 October 1936.

Hours change on public holidays, and around 14 and 15 May the historic centre fills up for the independence celebrations — worth knowing if those are your dates.

Yes. The driver-guide works in English and Portuguese, and Spanish is the local language, so the tour is covered in three languages. If you need a different language, tell us when you book and we will try to arrange it.
Can we choose the route?
Yes. The five stops listed are the standard circuit, but it is a private tour and the order is flexible. If you want to add the Mercado 4 market, the Manzana de la Rivera or a specific museum, tell your guide at pickup.
Is the Casa de la Independencia free?
Yes. The Casa de la Independencia museum, in the 1772 house where the break with Spain was planned, has free admission. As of August 2026 it opens Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM and on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
What is the best time of day for the tour?
Morning, for most of the year. Asunción is hot from October to March and the middle of the day is uncomfortable outside the vehicle. In winter an afternoon departure works well and gives you better light at Cerro Lambaré.
How much walking is involved?
Light. The vehicle takes you between stops and the walking at each one is short and mostly flat — a few blocks in the historic centre and a short climb at the Cerro Lambaré viewpoint. Comfortable shoes and water are enough.
Can you pick us up from the airport or a cruise?
Yes. Pickup can be at your hotel, at Silvio Pettirossi airport in Luque or anywhere else in the metropolitan area. If you are on a layover, the tour fits comfortably in a five-hour window with luggage in the vehicle.
Do I need a credit card to book?
No, a credit card is not required. To confirm your reservation, we only require a 30% deposit, which can be paid via credit card, wire transfer, digital wallet, or crypto. The remaining 70% is paid on the day of the tour.
What happens if it rains?
The tour runs anyway. Most of the route is covered from the vehicle and the stops are short, so rain mostly costs you the view from Cerro Lambaré. If the forecast is bad and you would rather move the date, we reschedule at no cost.
Is Asunción worth a full day or is five hours enough?
Five hours covers the city properly at a relaxed pace. Asunción is compact and its main sights sit close together. If you have a full day free, it is usually better spent on a day trip — the Jesuit Missions or the Iguazu Falls — than on stretching the city tour.
