One day or two
What the Extra Day Actually Buys You
Both versions visit the same Brazilian side. The difference is time at the falls and not driving back at night.
| 1-day tour | 2-day tour | |
|---|---|---|
| Time at the falls | 4–5 hours | About 8 hours, until the park closes |
| Leave the park at | 3:00 PM | 4:30–5:00 PM, the last hour is the quietest |
| Driving | 11 hours in one stretch | Split across two days |
| Back in Asunción | 8:00–9:00 PM the same night | 5:00 PM the next day |
| Hotel | Not needed | 4-star, included, on the Ciudad del Este side |
| Breakfast | — | Buffet, included, 7:00–10:00 AM |
| Which side | Brazilian | Brazilian |
| Price from | USD 697 | USD 897 |
The day tour works, and plenty of people do it. But it ends with an eleven-hour drive that finishes near midnight, and it pulls you out of the park at 3 PM — right when the afternoon light is at its best and the coach parties have left. The two-day version is the same trip with those two problems removed.
What it is not: it does not add the Argentinian side. That side needs a full day of its own and a second border crossing. The difference between the two is explained in our comparison of the two sides.

Park hours & entrance
How Late You Can Stay
This is the detail the two-day version is built around, and the one most itineraries get wrong.
| Opens | 9:00 AM Monday to Friday · 8:30 AM Saturday and Sunday |
| Last entry | 4:00 PM — after that the gate closes to new visitors |
| You may stay until | 5:30 PM — being inside at 4 PM is what matters, not arriving |
| Open | 365 days a year |
| Foreign visitors | R$131 (~USD 24), paid at the gate |
| Brazil and Mercosur | R$118 (~USD 20) |
| Under 6 | Free |
On the day tour you leave at 3 PM to make it back to Asunción. Here you use those last two and a half hours, which are the emptiest and best-lit of the day. Paraguay is a Mercosur member, so Paraguayan passport holders pay the lower rate.
Iguaçu National Park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything worth knowing before you book.
How much is the 2-day Iguazu Falls tour from Asunción?
From USD 897 per vehicle for up to three passengers, plus USD 97 for each additional passenger up to seven. That includes one night in a 4-star hotel and the buffet breakfast. A group of four pays USD 994 for the whole vehicle and the room. The park entrance, lunch and dinner are not included.
What is the difference between the one-day and the two-day tour?
Both visit the Brazilian side and both leave Asunción at 3 AM. On the day tour you leave the park at 3 PM and reach Asunción between 8 and 9 PM, after eleven hours of driving in one stretch. On the two-day version you stay at the park until it closes, sleep in a hotel, and drive back the next morning arriving around 5 PM. About eight hours at the falls instead of four or five.
Does the two-day tour include the Argentinian side?
No. Both versions visit the Brazilian side. The Argentinian side needs a full day of its own and a second border crossing, so it is a different trip. If that is what you want, tell us and we quote a one-way transfer with the return whenever you are ready.
Where is the hotel?
On the Ciudad del Este side, back in Paraguay rather than in Brazil. It is a 4-star hotel and the night is included in the price. Sleeping on the Paraguayan side also shortens the return: the drive home is about five hours instead of six.
Is breakfast included?
Yes, a buffet breakfast at the hotel, served from 7:00 to 10:00 AM. Departure is at 11:00 AM, so there is no need to rush it. Dinner on the first night is not included — the evening is your own.
What time do we get back to Asunción?
Around 5:00 PM on day two. You leave the hotel at 11:00 AM and the drive from Ciudad del Este takes about five hours. It is one of the main reasons people choose this version: no arriving home near midnight.
How late can we stay at the falls?
Last entry to the Brazilian park is 4:00 PM, and once you are inside you may remain until 5:30 PM. We leave for the hotel between 4:30 and 5:00 PM. Those final hours are the quietest of the day and the light is at its best, which is exactly what the day tour has to give up.
What time does the tour start?
3:00 AM, the same as the day tour. The early hour is what gets you across the Friendship Bridge before the queues and puts you at the park gate when it opens at 9 AM. It is what buys you the full day at the falls.
How much is the park entrance?
As of early 2026, R$131 for foreign visitors and R$118 for Brazilian and Mercosur nationals, with free entry for children under six. Paraguay is a Mercosur member, so Paraguayan passport holders pay the lower rate. It is paid at the gate in reais or by card, and it is not included in our price.
What documents do I need?
A valid passport, plus documentation for any children travelling with you. Some nationalities also need a visa for Brazil, so confirm your own case before booking. Your driver knows the Friendship Bridge crossing and goes through it with you.
Can we choose the hotel?
Tell us your preference when you book and we work with it. The included rate covers a room in a 4-star hotel on the Ciudad del Este side; if you want something specific or an upgrade, we quote the difference.
Do I need a credit card to book?
No, a credit card is not required. To confirm your reservation we only require a 30% deposit, which can be paid via credit card, wire transfer, digital wallet, or crypto. The remaining 70% is paid on the day of the tour.
What is the best time of year to go?
April to June and August to October offer the best balance of comfortable weather, strong water flow and thinner crowds. December to March brings the highest volume along with heat and humidity. January and July fill up because of school holidays in Brazil and Argentina.
Can we extend it to three days?
Yes. A third day usually goes to Itaipú Dam, the Parque das Aves bird park or shopping in Ciudad del Este. Tell us what interests you and we quote the extra night and the day's driving.
Stay Until the Park Closes
Tell us your dates and how many of you are travelling, and we confirm availability, the hotel and the exact price for your group.
4-star hotel and breakfast included · 30% deposit, the rest on the day.
